Dinosaur Stained Glass Panel

Boys Bedroom Stained Glass Window - Dinosaur stained glass panel.

This is one of a set of four stained glass panels I designed & made that were to go above doors that lead into a upstairs hallway of a modern home. No matter which way you see the windows from the light stream through them to bring the colours of the glass alive.

This dinosaur stained glass window was great to do as it was so different and the colours & textures of the glass I could use really lent themselves particularly well to the whole idea. So I was able to get a real feel for the rough textures of the background landscape & the big scary dinosaur with the glass.

Because it was an indoor window at around 400mm square I used the copper foil technique to construct the window & so I was able to get a lot more detail and shape to all the separate piece of glass, giving it almost a painted picture type quality.

The others in this set are...

    Glass Doves - NEW!

Stained Glass Doves - A piece of calm and beauty for your home & garden. These peaceful white glass doves are made with irridesent white glass. If they are hung up near a window the light lights them up but even if they are hung away from light because the glass is opaque you still get the beauty of the shining white glass dove in all its glory.

The glass birds can also be hung outside to add all year round colour and movement to your garden.
Why not hang a set of the doves, hearts and stars from a tree or pagoda to form your own glass garden art or even mix and match with my copper & glass hearts and glass circles.
These glass doves also make excellent Christmas doves to hang around your home to add to the festive cheer.
Why not use them instead of your normal Christmas holly wreath on your front door, what would be more of a warm welcome to your visitors to your home at Christmas time than a glass Christmas Dove.
    A perfect Chrismas gift!

Stained Glass Angels - Angels with Attitude!

    Long Legged Angels

This beautiful stained glass angel is one of my best sellers. With it's long silver coloured wire legs & glass glob boots it had been called by one of my satisfied customers "An Angel with Attitude!", which I agree suits them down to the ground.

As with all the items I design & make each one is individual due to them being hand made and each sheet of glass I use changes from 1cm to the next. There are plenty of colours for you to chose from, click on the picture to see them.

If you would like another colour you don't see then please like with all other artefacts please contact me and one can be made especially for you. (This applies to the size also).

The smaller angel is aproximately 16.5cm long (not including string).

Coming up to the madness of the Christmas gift buying this festive glass angel would put a smile on anyone's face and can be left to hang in the home all year round. They have been purchased for not only Christmas gifts but also for Christenings, Weddings, Birthdays, Wedding Favours, Mothers, Thank you's & other special occassions.

Enjoy my Angels & browsing through all my other glass creations. & Please feel free to contact me if I can help you in anyway.

On Friday 4th September and Saturday 5th September we see the welcome return of our Open Day and Organic Tasting at Cotesbach, this year there will be a larger range of things to see and do, with we hope something for everyone. We are combining the tranquility of the garden, the taste of organic, the culture of art and stained glass with the awesome power of an engine from the second world war combined with a farm walk if you have the energy. Now is your chance. Never has a day been so diverse, something for everyone and free admission.

    Garden Tours

As in previous years the kitchen garden will be open with Phil the resident expert Organic grower giving free guided tours. Come and see heritage vegetables, including more than a dozen varieties of tomatoes, and the three sisters 'squashes, sweetcorn and clover in perfect harmony .  Tours will run at about 11, 12, 2 & 4 for the garden.

As always Phil has many tips on growing and getting the most from your plot.

    Organic Tastings

There will be lots to try and sample, so you can try before you buy. This year in addition to our old friend the Godminster vintage cheddar we also have cheese from Greens of Glastonbury. You can try the chocolate courgette cake and the best in dried apricots. There will of course be many other bits to taste, the best I think will be those fresh from the garden.

In a couple of weeks time Jason will be opening his Organic Butchers shop in the Stable Yard here at Cotesbach. So the Open Day is a good time to see progress on the latest addition here. We hope that you will be able to try some of Jason’s Organic burgers, which are just the best you have ever tasted, there will be a small charge for the Burgers.

    Recipe Ideas

NEW - Large Glass & Beach Wood Mobile Hanging

This striking glass mobile hanging is made from Lyme Regis beach wood & waves of coloured glass.

One holiday down in Lyme Regis I found some beautiful wood on the beach. So after my son and I had finished searching for fossils (which was great fun and very exciting wondering what you'd discover next) we collected various pieces that I thought I might be able to use, at that stage I didn't know what for but I fell in love with the colours, textures and shapes of it and got very excited as to what I could create. So even though my son thought I was rather strange, which I don't mind (who wants to be normal!) we gathered a few choice pieces. From them I have made various pieces including this hanging and the glass and wood compliment each other so well.

This glass & beach wood hanging along with the others I will make, are all one off's as I never cut the waves of glass the same, it depends what takes my fancy at the time and the wood is obviously unique. It can be an outdoor piece to give you colour  & sculpture in your garden all year round or if you fancy something dramatic in your home this is ideal.

If you would like one made to your specification please just contact me and I will gladly help you.

New Stained Glass Indoor & Outdoor Hangings

New Stained Glass Indoor & Outdoor Hangings

Now what could you possibly make with a piece of copper piping, some glass & some lead? Well I've made these new stained glass garden sculptures, that can be hung outside and indoors. Each one is different as the copper piping is all curved by hand and then I cut a small glass heart and edge it with lead.

These are the newest additions to my range of handmade stained glass products that I have designed, made and are unique to me.

    Glass

Glass generally refers to hard, brittle, transparent material, such as those used for windows, many bottles, or eyewear. Examples of such materials include, but are not limited to, soda-lime glass, borosilicate glass, acrylic glass, sugar glass, isinglass (Muscovy-glass), or aluminium oxynitride. In the technical sense, glass is an inorganic product of fusion which has been cooled through the glass transition to a rigid condition without crystallizing.[1][2][3][4][5] Many glasses contain silica as their main component and glass former.[6]

In the scientific sense the term glass is often extended to all amorphous solids (and melts that easily form amorphous solids), including plastics, resins, or other silica-free amorphous solids. In addition, besides traditional melting techniques, any other means of preparation are considered, such as ion implantation, and the sol-gel method.[6] However, glass science and physics commonly includes only inorganic amorphous solids, while plastics and similar organics are covered by polymer science, biology and further scientific disciplines.

Glass plays an essential role in science and industry. The optical and physical properties of glass make it suitable for applications such as flat glass, container glass, optics and optoelectronics material, laboratory equipment, thermal insulator (glass wool), reinforcement fiber (glass-reinforced plastic, glass fiber reinforced concrete), and art.

The term glass developed in the late Roman Empire. It was in the Roman glassmaking center at Trier, Germany, that the late-Latin term glesum originated, probably from a Germanic word for a transparent, lustrous substance.[7]

    Gift

A gift or a present is the transfer of something, without the need for compensation that is involved in trade. A gift is a voluntary act which does not require anything in return. Even though it involves possibly a social expectation of reciprocity, or a return in the form of prestige or power, a gift is meant to be free.

In many human societies, the act of mutually exchanging money, goods, etc. may contribute to social cohesion. Economists have elaborated the economics of gift-giving into the notion of a gift economy.

By extension the term gift can refer to anything that makes the other happier or less sad, especially as a favour, including forgiveness and kindness.
